Productivity Tips to Help You Gain More Time

Posted on 20 Feb, 2020

Do you sometimes feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day? Between deadlines at work and projects at home, it may seem like there’s always something to do and not nearly enough time to do it. Fortunately, you can increase your productivity and ultimately gain more time by adopting a few simple habits. Here are some tips to help you live more productively.

Stay active.
Exercising is just as important for your mind as it is for your body. Exercise increases blood flow to the brain, making you more alert and mentally prepared for whatever may come your way. You also feel happier and have more energy after you work out, which helps you be more productive. When you live at Weston, you can easily get in a great workout at Boulder Ridge Swim Club. Whether you prefer to swim a few laps in the pool or lift some weights in the fitness center, you’ll have everything you need to keep both your body and your mind healthy and fit.

Eat a healthy diet.
To maintain your focus, you need to maintain a healthy diet. Eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other nutritious foods increases your alertness, your energy and your concentration. Start your day off right with a filling breakfast like a smoothie or oatmeal. On a roll in the middle of the day? Be sure to stop for lunch or you’ll deplete your energy levels. And it’s best to avoid processed sugar for a pick-me-up in the middle of the afternoon. The resulting sugar spike may give you a quick boost, but you’ll crash long before the day is over.

Turn off distractions.
In today’s hyperconnected world, it’s easy to be distracted. The phone rings. A text message pops up. You get a notification that someone commented on a photo you just posted on social media. Eliminating distractions and staying focused is key to being more productive. Try turning off notifications and putting your phone on mute while completing important tasks, whether it’s finishing up a work project or planning your next family vacation. It will help you concentrate, and you’ll zip through that task in no – or at least less – time.

Connect with nature.
Have you noticed that you tend to feel re-energized after going for a walk? It’s not your imagination. Connecting with nature helps you relax, which in turn reduces stress and increases your ability to focus. There are plenty of options for a great hike near Weston. The popular Mission Trails Regional Park is practically in your backyard, and Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and other beautiful parks are a short drive away. Don’t have time to get outside? You can bring nature inside with some well-placed plants and a good view of the outdoors.
