Looking for more fun entertainment options to keep your kiddos engaged and active? Check out these activities near Weston’s master-planned community in Santee.
Uptown Jungle Fun Park
San Diego’s ultimate indoor playground is just a short drive from Weston. Along with a mega play structure, kids can get together to enjoy the park’s obstacle course, climbing wall, super slide, trampoline and life-sized video games.
Kids ages 6 to 15 can join both competitive and recreational leagues for soccer. Or for younger kiddos in pre-K and kindergarten, Sportsplex USA hosts Mighty Mite soccer and tee ball teams for making friends and having all sorts of fun.
Summers Past Farms
Explore the mini mountains and other fun features built into the fairy gardens at Summers Past Farms. Kids can take home their very own items to build a fairy garden and learn more about caring for plants. Check back on Summers Past’s calendar for more fun, family-friendly events.
San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum
Kids have all sorts of opportunities to check out and interact with captivating exhibits at this Escondido museum. Their outdoor Discovery Garden has nature-based activities, including Base Camp where kids can be budding archaeologists, paleontologists and geologists for the afternoon. Within the Experimentation area are hands-on STEM activities where kids can tinker and find out more about their surroundings. On the Imagination Stage, kids can take the spotlight putting on a performance or playing with puppets and costumes while developing their storytelling skills and creativity. Kids can find out about other cultures around the globe, hop aboard the Discovery Sailboat and learn about sea life in the museum’s Exploration area.
In El Cajon, enjoy all-ages activities including mini-golf, bumper boats and go-karts. The park’s County Fair has even more rides like the Ferris wheel and a mini-coaster. If this quickly becomes your child’s favorite destination, you can save by purchasing a season pass.
Just east of Weston the whole family can enjoy volleyball, biking, pedal boating on the lake and fishing off the lakes’ shoreline. Plus, kids can cool off at the Sprayground splash pad.
Every fourth Sunday of the month at 3 p.m., Mission Trails Regional Park hosts a guided walk where kids can learn about nature and some of the park’s wildlife inhabitants.
