Buckle up, hang onto your hat and let your cowboy spirit shine by moseying on down to the Lakeside Rodeo! Located close to Weston in Santee, the Lakeside Rodeo is a time-honored tradition that started in 1920. The 2018 edition kicks off Friday night, April 27.
If this is literally your first rodeo, you have a variety of dining options before you head over to the show. Visiting Café 67 can set the tone for the evening with home-style cooking.
Eastbound Bar & Grill, two blocks from the rodeo, is another casual spot. Dine on everything from the bar’s street tacos to hearty burgers as you sip on cocktails and beer.
The rodeo also has snacks, beer and other tasty treats available.
Then it’s time for the main event! Night one starts at 7:30 p.m. with four, full rodeo performances slated for the weekend:
Friday, April 27, 2018, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 28, 2018, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 29, 2018, 2 p.m.
Bareback riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping and barrel racing highlight the show’s competitions. Danny “Buffalo Chip” Alvernaz will also be there for pre-show shenanigans and photo-ops, so come early! You’re in for a night of fun.
Proceeds from this annual event go back to the Youth Lakeside community providing students scholarships, school supplies and additional resources.
