Celebrate the Holidays With These 4 Festivities in Santee

Posted on 19 Nov, 2019

What better way to spend the season than by having an adventure at a holiday event with your family and friends? Take photos with Santa, sled down a hill made of snow, watch a parade and more at one of these four celebrations and festivals near Weston in Santee.

Santee Holiday Lighting Celebration
On Friday, November 22, 2019, join your neighbors at Santee’s annual Lighting Celebration. The free family fun begins at 5:30 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m. at Santee Trolley Square. Kick off the holiday season a little early with carriage rides, photos with Santa, crafts, games, sledding and more. And, of course, don’t miss the main event — the tree lighting — at 6:30 p.m. Take the Trolley Green Line to Santee Trolley Square, only 3.1 miles from Weston, and spend the evening in full holiday spirit. Kids will love sledding, jumping in the bounce houses and taking pictures with Santa. And everyone will enjoy the live music and nearby restaurants.

Parade of Lights & Snow Festival
If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, then you won’t want to miss the 24th Annual Parade of Lights & Snow Festival. With real snow for sledding, this free event is perfect for kids. Plus, enjoy food, music and vendors throughout the evening. On Friday, December 6, 2019, head to the Alpine Community Center — about 20 miles from Weston — at 5 p.m. when the snow begins. And at 6:30 p.m., watch the parade, which begins on the corner of Alpine Boulevard and W. Victoria Drive, and ends at Tavern Road.

Santa at the Lakes
If you missed Santa at an earlier event, don’t worry. You’ll still have a chance to see him on Sunday, December 8, 2019, for Santa at the Lakes — sponsored in part by Pardee Homes. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., spend the day at Santee Lakes. Kids can sled down Santee’s famous Snow Hill, get their faces painted, ride a pony and, of course, have their pictures taken with Santa. Note: Parking is $10 and tickets are $1 per person. Activities and rides are additional.
